The basic tactical battles mechanics are very straightforward, but as the enemies become stronger and more numerous you will have to employ some more advanced strategy (as well as hire more troops for your army). Try to hold your units in formations as long as you can because the enemies will try to destroy your second line units if they'll have the chance. Ranged units and spellcasters are especially prone to enemy cavalry and infantry.
The battles get very hard pretty fast, as you get closer to the Blue Coast - so try to gain as much experience as possible in the initial regions. Loosing is fun and each playthrough doesn't take much time, so keep true to your tactics and try again if you're defeated.
This strategy game is completely free and you can earn the soul stones currency while you play. The further you get the more likely it is to get some soul stones from tactical battles. The game can be won without unlocking world and global units upgrades, but it will be harder to fight battles without them.

You can now recruit mercenaries, which don't require people investment but drain your treasury every turn. We've introduced new items & artifacts and added the possibility to sell items in dwellings. You can now also disband units and use some potions outside of battles. On top of that items can now add new abilities to units, not only bolster stats.
